Tryptone-Yeast Extract Broth (TYE)

Tryptone yeast extract broth is used as a general purpose enrichment medium for not particularlyfastidious microorganisms. According to the international streptomyces project, this medium is prepared. The nitrogenous chemicals, carbon, sulfur, vitamin B complex, and trace elements required for bacterial metabolism are provided by tryptone and yeast extract. It can also be used for investigations on fermentation if additional carbohydrates and a pH indicator are added.

Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 28-32 centigrade for upto 4 days.

Store below 30 centigrade in tightly closed container and the prepared medium at 2 - 8 centigrade.
